I BLEED BLUE

BYU athletics are back in full force! Football and Basketball... the best ever! Unfortunately, being employed this year is putting a damper in my sporting event attendance. It is truly heartbreaking. But you can believe I will be at every game I can be! And, although our football team has struggled this season, that will not be the case with our basketball team! Our team is solid. I. CANNOT. WAIT. Here's a peak of so far...
 The oh-so-famous Cougar Marching Band
Me and Clayton-Hottest game EVER! We were dripping sweat
 Friends!
 Sharon and I
 Parker*, Sharon and I

 Roomies + Parker*

 Me, Sharon and Holly
best picture ever

* Parker can't seem to pull a normal face in ANY picture... but we love him for who he is :)

GO COUGARS!!!!!!!

Catch up....

So it has been awhile since I have posted anything. Quite a bit has happened in the past few weeks so I will share a few things ...

First of all I love my family! Last friday I met up with my family in Salt Lake to celebrate my brother's birthday. Can you believe he is turning 16?? Yikes, I sure can't!! He is so tall though!

I must say I gave him THEE coolest present ever! I gave him a BYU football that I had my friend get signed by all the football team. My brother is obsessed with BYU so I think it was a big hit!

Also we all went to the Salt Lake temple and did baptisms. It was the first time my whole family has been able to go to the temple together. It was really cool! Also we went to Market Street Grill... Pretty delicious, but WAY too over-priced for the amount of food they give you.

I love and miss my family so much and I love when I am able to spend the day with them! Happy birthday Mase! I love you! You are the best brother ever! Good luck getting your license and stay away from the girls if you can!! :)

Next comes Halloween. I didn't do anything exciting. Heck I didn't even dress up or go to one of the million dances around here. Ha but I was okay with it. You can call me a homebody I guess. But I did sort of get into the Halloween spirit. Holly, Parker, and I got creative! First we had witches brew (apple juice with dry ice), we made homemade carmel apples (mom this totally reminded me of you. Once upon a time we totally used to make these!), and we made a cake (I don't know what this has to do with Halloween but we did it anyways). Although it wasn't the prime Halloween night, we had some fun.

Laugh of the Week

Alright so this was definitely the BEST moment of my week! I would write it up and tell you all what happened, but my roommate has ever so graciously already done so... So just click on this link and read the story for yourself. Maybe it was a had-to-be-there moment, but I still can't stop laughing about it!! Enjoy!!

Slightly Overwhelmed....

Today I have hit a wall. I suppose it has been building for quite awhile now, but today I hit it head on. 3 papers to write (by tomorrow), New Testament test to study for (by tomorrow), 6 marriage prep readings (by tomorrow), Marriage prep test to study for (by wednesday), Cleaning checks on tuesday, work= tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, stress of a new, demanding church calling in which I feel completely inadequate and unqualified. And this is just half of what needs to be done this week. Needless to say it will be a WEEK OF DEATH!!! To top it all off, I have no motivation. I am feeling lazy. I just wanna take a 5 minute break to breathe. Squeeze in a 30 minute nap. Read a book (other than stupid textbooks).

On the other hand, wasn't conference great? I loved it. I love our living prophet! I had two things hit me during conference that really impressed me and made me think.

1. President Monson's talk about gratitude. Being grateful, especially for our special relationships with others and expressing gratitude.

In response to this, I have created a blog to act as my gratitude journal. This way I can recognize something everyday that I am truly grateful for. You can check it out at ...
melanie-attitudeofgratitude.blogspot.com

2. I picked up a theme from conference dealing with the prophet. Being obedient to the prophet, the living prophet is more important than prophets that have already passed away, and sustaining and supporting our church leaders.

I thought a lot about this and decided that a way for me to better support and sustain the prophet would be to get to know him better so it is easier for me to be obedient. So I purchased this book and started reading it.. and it is AMAZING so far. And I am only on page 10. I highly recommend it.

Called To Serve..

If you haven't caught on by now, it is best friend week. I have been recognizing the special people in my life. I got this idea from Conference during Pres. Monson's talk on being grateful. I am so grateful for these people in my life and for their special friendships. I would be wrong if I didn't say that some of these boys are included in my best friend category. I am so grateful for all of them and their service! They are such great examples to me and I look up to them so much! I've kind of been thinking about whether I want to go on a mission or not and it totally makes me realize how much these boys sacrifice! I miss these boys so much, but I am so proud of them and I know they couldn't be in a better place! Love you boys!
All of these guys are great! But I must say a special thanks to Christian, Zachary and Christopher! Thank you for being my best friends! Thanks for being there whenever I needed you! I miss you guys!! I wish you the best two years ever!

The Sharonator

So last year I came to BYU not knowing anybody. I was scared to death to meet my roommates. Then I met this girl...
My South Carolina chick. We spend basically every second together. I was lonely during the summer without her, but luckily I got to go visit her!
Thanks for being my best friend! Thanks for putting up with me 24/7, I know it is not easy! Ha ha Thanks for thinking I'm funny and not giving me too hard of a time for being a creep lol

I'm so grateful we were randomly signed up to be roommates. Crazy how things work! Love you Sharon!
